Autumn Winter 2011 Milan Fashion Week

It's been a tumultuous few days in the world of fashion with the revelations about John Galliano, but the fashion train rolls on...

Although the fash pack are now firmly into Paris fashion week, this post will focus on Milan.

Admittedly it's not usually my city of choice when it comes to the shows. I'm not a great lover of Cavalli, Versace etc. Too flamboyant for me. However this season I found myself more impressed than usual with the offering.

Here are some of my favourite collections. All images courtesy of style.com.

Great colour & amazing boots at Alberta Ferretti...

Great lace & texture at Bottega Veneta...

Amazing leather at Dsquared2...

Vibrant colour & 70's glamour at Gucci...

The best of the rest...

The Oscars Frocks

I always like to take a peek at the outfit choices on show at the Oscars. This year the offering seemed somewhat subdued. I couldn't spot any outright howlers, although I'm not sure Marisa Tomei chose the most flattering dress.

Red was a prevalent colour, with Sandra Bullock keeping it simple & pulling it off to the greatest effect in Vera Wang. Subtle, shimmering silver tones were also popular with Gwyneth Paltrow being praised for her Calvin Klein choice. My favourite silver look was Hilary Swank in Gucci Premiere, keeping accessories to a minimum & letting the dress do all of the talking.

Here are my other favourite looks...

Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Mila Kunis Elie Saab Couture

Camila Alves in Kaufman Franco

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture

Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa

Autumn Winter 2011 London Fashion Week

So London Fashion Week is over for another season & Milan is now underway.

I must admit that I normally love New York Fashion Week for its understated sophistication, however this season I was left a little underwhelmed. So I wondered what London would have to offer...

London always seems to encompass some of New York's easy dressing ethos, but added to this is a dash of extra creativity & a drop of the glamour associated with both Milan & Paris. That's what I love about the London shows, you can't completely pinpoint the overall look as the collections are so eclectic.

Here are some of my favourite collections from the shows. All images courtesy of style.com.

Great shaping & lace at Antonio Berardi...

Fab outerwear from Burberry Prorsum...

Gothic glamour at Julien Macdonald...

Great leather & colour at Marios Schwab...

Amazing velvet at Michael van der Ham...

Fluidity at Roksanda Ilincic...

Colour pop at Osman...

Edgy sophistication from Nicole Farhi...

Erin Fetherston AW11

Whilst catching up on the New York collections I was drawn to the fab photography of the Erin Fetherston presentation. I think the soft ethereal glow of the shots really enhances the collection & gives it an other-worldly look.

Here are a few of my favourite looks. See what you think...
